The Art Ability programme was established in 2003 and is a person centred, participation focused initiative set within caring environments. The primary goal of the programme is to provide access to high quality art experiences based on meaningful engagement between participant artists and professional artists.
The programme is led by the Arts Department of Wexford County Council in partnership with the Arts Council, HSE Disability, and Mental Health Services. Together the organisations ensure a sustainable infrastructure for access and participation to creative art experiences for people who experience long-term mental health issues and/or intellectual disabilities and to support their professional development as artists.
The core programme is currently accessed by participants and staff at the following centres:
